TCI’S MARCO FENELUS SELECTED BY THE NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION IN THIRD ROUND OF MLS DRAFT
Providenciales, Turks & Caicos Islands — Former TCI Academy player Marc Fenelus was selected in the 2015 Major League Soccer Draft on January 20, 2015. He was taken by the Massachusetts based New England Revolution with the 5th pick in the 3rd round and was the 47th overall selection in the MLS Super Draft. It is significant to note that Marc was the only College Player selected by the Revolution in this year’s draft.
Fenelus, a senior at Cal State Fullerton in the United States, is the second TCI national to be drafted by CONCACAF’s powerhouse league.
“I’m elated,” says the 5-11 forward. “This is more than a dream come true. It’s a goal achieved. I have almost completed my college degree and now I have a professional opportunity. This is what I came to America to do.”
Fenelus, appeared in all 24 games for the Cal State Fullerton Titans in 2014 and was the team leader in goals (7) and points (16). He spent his first 2 years in the U.S. collegiate system at Western Texas College. At Western Texas the versatile forward/midfield was a second-team All-American, an All-Region first team selection, as well his team’s top scorer (25 goals, 14 assists).
