Coaching

The Turks and Caicos Islands Football Association (TCIFA) has in recent times made tremendous strides in the area of coaching. Last February 2013 the United States Soccer Federation held an “E” license course at our headquarters in Providenciales. 24 of our coaches attended this weekend course run by one of US Soccer’s top coaching instructors, Dean Wurzberger. The end product was that we now have 24 additional certified coaches with the aim to increase the numbers and level of certification. The TCIFA is now in the process of seeking to agree a date for a second such E course in 2014.

Our confederation CONCACAF held their first coaching license course in the Summer of 2013. This was a “D” license and the TCIFA had two participants, Dane Ritchie and Olivia Graveley attending this session. Again this has contributed in raising the level and quality of our coaches with the ultimate aim of improving our players here on island.

Once again this past year the engine that ran our youth program was our many volunteer coaches who give of their time running the weekly regional academies and the Grassroots Program on Saturdays. We are so fortunate to have willing, dedicated and knowledgeable coaches in this program. Thanks again for all your efforts and especially your time.

This coming year we will welcome a new Technical Director Craig Harrington. He comes well qualified and with a wealth of experience and resources that we hope will help to move our program forward. We are excited and optimistic about the possibilities.

The TCIFA is starting a Guest Coach program wherein we will invite top coaches from around the world to come in and work with our Youth and Senior teams. The first such coach will be TJ Kostecky who is the Head Coach of Long Island University Men’s Football Team. TJ comes in on January 10, 2014 and will work with all of our Center of Excellence teams, the Women and Men’s senior teams as well as conduct a coaching clinic for our coaches. We will have additional coaches during the year.
